Technology Task 2 prompts ask about the internet, smartphones, automation and social media, and how they affect society, work and young people. Strong answers weigh both sides and commit to a clear, reasoned view.
What to practice
- Decide quickly whether the prompt is asking for agree/disagree, both views, or problem/solution — and structure to match.
- Build vocabulary around tech effects: "automation", "screen time", "digital literacy", "misinformation".
- Acknowledge the opposing view before arguing your own — it shows balance and lifts your Task Response.
- Use specific, plausible examples rather than sweeping generalisations.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the prompt as a general "is technology good or bad" essay instead of answering the exact question.
- Relying on clichés ("technology is a double-edged sword") without developing the point.
- Forgetting a clear position, so the essay reads as a neutral list.
- Weak paraphrasing that simply swaps a couple of words from the prompt.
